MEMBERSHIP AT KONA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
“The Kona United Methodist Church welcomes ALL people with no judgments of your history or place in life.” Perhaps you are seeking a church family with which to connect and grow in faith and discipleship. Won’t you prayerfully consider taking a step of faith and becoming a vital member of our church “ohana”? God wants people of diverse backgrounds and cultures to unite around Jesus, His Son, Our Lord, so that His glory is displayed through the church…our lovely, open-air pavilion, with a multicultural body of Christ on the west-side of the Big Island in Kona – Kona United Methodist Church.
There are many benefits of church membership, but first and foremost is that it expresses a commitment to Christ and to yourself to love and serve one another. (This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12) Then in turn the church body promises to love, serve and watch over you. Becoming a church member is a tangible affirmation of your profession of faith and it provides a means of accountability as you grow in the faith. It allows for you to develop real and vibrant relationships, to share in life together, to encourage each other and to perform good works.
Many of our congregants visit or live on the Big Island on a part-time basis and have home churches on the mainland and yet feel drawn to our church body and choose to be affiliate members (if their home church is a UMC) or associate members (if their home church is of another denomination).
Each spring and fall, membership classes are offered for those who wish to explore questions about the Christian faith, the church and what it means to become a member of the body of Christ through Kona UMC.
If the Spirit is nudging you to take a closer look at a vibrant community of faith, then check us out and explore the possibilities.
You can always contact Pastor Sunny or Pat Aldred (Director of Membership) via church email (konaumc@hawaii.rr.com) or better yet, ask us in person for further details. The invitation is always open to come and worship our Lord and Savior with us!
