ATTENTION OUTDOOR ENTHUSIASTS!
It’s time again for another adventurous hike to explore the beauty of nature on our tropical island home. This trek will take us up to 3000’ to the Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary. In the area of Kaloko Mauka on a 70-acre privately owned sanctuary, we will take a guided tour that will allow us to see and appreciate many rare
and endangered endemic and exotic trees, plants and birds which the Sanctuary is committed to protecting. Trails range from 1 to 2 miles, and one leads to the “mysterious and magical painted tree.”
If we can form a Hikers for God group of 8 or more, we will get a discounted rate of $15/each instead of the $25 admission. Following the tour, we will enjoy a picnic lunch at picnic tables on the property.
Reserve on your calendar Thursday, August 17th when we will meet in the back-parking lot at 10a.m. to carpool. Be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes, camera, water, repellent, brown bag lunch, admission $, and rain gear (they don’t call it “cloud forest” for nothing). We will return to church (about 10 minutes away) following lunch. Sign up to join us at the Ministry Table or see Kim Davison for questions.
